From the first chords, there’s something familiar and endearing about ‘Ride On’ by The Electric Grub. The guitars are big and layered, feeling like they’re about to fall into a swell of feedback at any point during the song. Jordan Musycsyn’s untrained warble grasps you like the first time you heard ‘Hey Hey My My’, while the gang vocals in the chorus reinforce the strength and immediacy of the song. It’s all driven by the rhythm section; pounding drums and bass that keep it all together and build the song to crescendo. Then, above it all, soars a guitar solo that redefines the song; jumping back and forth between expertly played and falling apart, trailing off into the fade of the song’s end.
